Scholar Support and Success
Selected Scholars who commit to and uphold the PATHS Program agreement for the entirety of their program participation will receive an intuitive network of support components to address their financial, academic, personal, and professional needs.
- A one-time scholarship, as indicated by the FAFSA/CA Dream Act
- Pending good academic standing, the program will support Scholars in obtaining paid summer research and/or internship opportunities during each summer quarter of undergraduate study
- Scholarship determined upon admission to the program
- Required participation in a 6-10 week pre-matriculation summer bridge program (July - September)
- Access to year-round resources at the Teaching + Learning Commons, including;
- Academic Achievement Hub
- Writing Hub
- Individualized academic advising
- High touch, ongoing mentorship with PATHS Graduate Advocates, dedicated STEM Faculty Advocates, and STEM alumni mentors
- Campus Cultural Centers under the umbrella of the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion;
- Year-round Cohort Activities
- Family events and activities to foster families' engagement and investment in the success of PATHS Scholars
- Targeted efforts to cultivate and nurture Scholars’ STEM identities
- Research methodology laboratory training and certification during first year
- Interactions with STEM faculty, researchers, and professionals from a range of career pathways in STEM
- Paid summer research and/or internships, pending good academic standing
- Cohort Activities with representatives of local STEM industry, both on campus and within the San Diego community
- Professional development resources to guide entry into career paths in research, professional school, or industry
- EnVision Arts and Engineering Maker Studio
- Early Research Scholars Program (ERSP)
